Wounding in the Bible

Some of my Christian friends have asked me, "Does the Bible talk about trauma and wounding?" I wanted to offer three passages that I rely on regularly with my Christian clients. Here are several:

The Spirit of God, the Master, is on me, because God has anointed me.

He sent me to preach good news to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, announce freedom to all captives, pardon all prisoners. (Isaiah 61:1-2, The Message).

and...

But you, Sovereign Lord, help me for your name's sake; out of the goodness of your love, deliver me. For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me. (Psalm 109:21-22, NIV).

and finally...

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me -- learn the unforced rhythms of grace. (Matthew 11:28-29, The Message).
